With all of the new nolimit holdem books flooding the market, this book by Daugherty and McEvoy has been forgotten. I have just reread it and I can honestly say that it is the best beginners book out there. Teaches tight play, position, adjusting to different player types. In fact it covers all of the fundamentals very well. Perfect for beginners. Here is a link:

What? No responses to my post?

Well, I guess everyone in this forum is too advanced for this book. Cool

It has been a long time since I read it, but I wasn't crazy about it. Perhaps it is just a matter of when you find it and what you need at that time. My memory is that it mostly talked about MTTs and not cash games.

I haven't read it also for a very long time, however, I do remember thinking it was decent for beginning players. Having said that, there have been a lot of good books put out since then which are probably better reads.

Yeah I read this a very long time ago and that was my recollection as well, especially considering the authors.

I thought at the time it was an okay primer for tournaments, especially before Harrington.
