I've recently started folding Ax on the button (sometimes anyway...) in unraised pots in the $2/$4 and $3/$6 games 6-handed games I play in. What I have found is that, even though I stand to have the best hand against the blinds a lot of the time, when I don't hit my ace I have no idea where I stand. When I do hit my ace my opponents are generally scared and will fold on the flop. Overall I don't know if it is very profitable to raise with Ax, unless of course the blinds fold a high proportion of the time, in which case I may raise with any two. I much prefer hands like 910 which plays better and allows me to bluff if an ace appears.
Does anyone else take this line in blind stealing?
I steal with any Ax, suited or not. I might even steal with A2o in the CO, but only when all remaining players are tight (especially the Button). When you miss the flop (against one opponent), you still usually have the best hand. I usually check behind the turn when he calls my continuation bet. The river then is a call or maybe a fold, depending on the board texture and my read on villain. When he checks the river too, I usually check behind (unless the board is double paired).
