They have not announced the complete schedule but at least the dates have been announced.
I can hardly wait!

| How do you think this new legislation will affect the field? So many players qualify online. Will online sites still be able to award seats because they aren't officially cash prizes? |

Yes, the Rio sent me a letter with these dates. This timetable is quite similar to the 2005 World Series. Curious as to why they moved it back to June/July. Not complaining though...better for me I think.
Fast Eddy: my guess is a drastic drop in the Main Event field, and a slight drop in the other events. Maybe no drop in the others.

| I think there will be a meterial drop-off in both players and prize money. |

| I predict about the same size field and the same amount of money. |

I predict little to no drop in the number of entrants.
I also predict the the prize money will change in direct proportion to the changes in entries. |

Well I'm going to have to disagree and say that WSOP 2007 will be the biggest yet, and that the ME will be at least the same size field, if not larger than last years.
I think the players that are willing to invest decent money to qualify in sats online will generally be the ones who have stuck around during the recent changes and will simply qualify elsewhere.
I also predict 587498 Pokerstars qualifiers. |

I imagine there will be a huge European contingent in 2007 at the WSOP.
I also talked to a few managers at Bay 101 and they are contemplating WSOP satellites themselves. |

I think sites will figure a "work-around".
Stars could run qualifiers, then say - "you will be given the $10,000 cash to register once you reach our booth at the WSOP in July".
That being said - once there, a person could bail and take the money - but I think many will still decide to play. |

I don't know. I think once the legislation is in place it's going to be hard for the government to ignore such blatant (and televised) disregard for the law. It's one thing if someone plays online quietly in the privacy of their own home(kind of like driving 60 mph in a 55). But, if thousands of these people are on t.v. in their full PokerTilt regalia, or whatever, it's more like taping a car show test drive on public roads at 130 mph.
If they get away with it, it will probably have to be as a seat in the WSOP with no cash value. That way no one is actually winning any money online. |

For tax purposes the seats does have value though and as such I don't see there will be any difference in the government's eyes. |

But the gov't won't go after the car drivers, they will go after those that built the cars. The recent legislation has not made it illegal to play online poker. And the prevailing view is that no prior federal law makes it illegal either.
