|
|
The powers to be at ITH have strived to bring the ITH community "home" to as many of our forum members as possible.
Therefore, we find that the need is there and the time is there to have our annual ITH convention on the EAST coast, thus meaning....
Atlantic City......here we come baby!!!
The Trump Taj Mahal has graciously offered to host us and the ITH community will be descending upon AC the weekend of Thursday September 13th through Monday September 16th (4 nights, 5 days)
Keep in mind that this weekend is during the WPT Borgata Open and the Main Event will be starting that Sunday, the 15th. Plan accordingly if any of you are wanting to play in any Borgata events (that don't conflict with our ITH events, OF COURSE).
Due to that fact, and due to the fact that Atlantic City IS Atlantic City, we can't get as great of hotel prices as we can in Vegas, however I was able to get somewhat decent prices, as anyone who's ever been to AC during an event, hotel prices are outrageous there!
Thursday 9/13 = $79
Friday 9/14 = $150
Saturday 9/15 = $200
Sunday 9/16 = $79
You can call 800-727-6537 starting today and use "ITH" when asking for your rates. If you need help with costs, consider a roommate.
2007 ITH Convention Itinerary:
Thursday:
Individual arrivals
Open House/Cocktail Reception 7-9pm; Location to be announced
Friday:
Seminar 11:30 am - 1:00 pm (Yay! No more of that 10:00am CRAP!!)
LHE $40 1:30 pm
NLHE $40 7:00 pm
Saturday:
LHE $40 1:00 pm
Awards/Announcements, etc 6:30pm
NLHE Main Event $100 7:00PM
Of course, we will play as many cash games as we can at The Taj, in order to show our support to this hotel/casino for putting up with us. However, due to AC laws (MUCH different then Vegas laws) we will NOT be able to play Indian Poker, Double Flop Hold Em or any of our crazy games. We can play Dealers Choice, but they have to be sanctioned card games by AC law and the poker room mananger did say we could get a pink chip ($2.50) game going if we'd like.
Due to the increase of cost to host our convention in Atlantic City, the registration fee has been increased, but not as much as it increased last year, the cost to attend will be $90, and tickets are available in the ITH Store now.
The Convention Fee covers the following:
Rake for ALL tournaments
Seminar Fun
Food and 2 Drinks at the Cocktail Reception
Shirt or Hat
And for the lucky few....trophies!!
If you want to attend but do not plan on playing in any of the events, the convention fee will be discounted to $50.
So there you have it, sorry you had to wait so long to get the announcement, but it was a little trickier this year dealing with AC and not Vegas.
Please post any questions or comments and hope to see you there!
Your ITH Convention Planner,
Tanya

| Does AC give out free drinks when your playing at tables? I realize there will not be an open bar for the ITH events this time but I'm asking about the casino/poker tables. |

Yes, AC gives free drinks while playing poker/gambling/slots, etc.
Although not an open bar at the reception, you will get 2 drink coupons and there will be a bartender to take your cash after you down those 2 drinks with me in the first 5 mins. |

I am going to DESPERATELY need more than 2 drinks.
I am considering making a vacation out of it and going to check out NY. I've never been to the East Coast. I have to do some planning and budgeting but I am about 95% certain I'll be able to make it to the Convention. |

I have only been to east coast once.
Trying to find investigate flights for the convention.
Where do you suppose would have most direct flight from Austin, TX to AC?
I am going to start making plans now. Don't think both hubby and I will be able to come because of kids in school.

I strongly advise everyone to check out www.spiritair.com I have found flights from Vegas to AC for as low as $8!!
They have a special link that shows you flights starting at $8, it's amazing to me. Right now they have Vegas to AC for the Convention weekend for $44 each way or maybe $88, can't remember, but it's still a great deal as I've usually spent up to $400 for a RT flight from Vegas to Philly.
As we get closer, I will try to cordinate rides from Philly to AC, I never rent a car, but there are shuttles and cars/limos for hire for only about $50 per trip. If you get 3-4 people in that car, pretty cheap way to get to AC from Philly. |

Flying into Newark orPhilly will probably provide the cheapest flights butt hen a rental car or a train ride would be needed to complete the journey. I've never flown into AC.
The drive is around 11/2 hours give or take from either Philly or Newark and depends on traffic conditions.
I will be flying into Newark. Continental Airlines has a hub there and the rates are reasonable from many places. |

Mrs. Victim (we'll be hitched by the time this comes around) and I will be driving up from DC.
If the timing is right, we could possibly pick up one or two folks. |

Thanks.
Delta has flight from Austin to Atlanta to AC. IF they don't go bankrupt again, that may be my best choice. RT about $500.

We need to recruit a ITH travel agent. |

KT,
Southwest currently is listing Austin to Philly for $350 or less round trip. You may want to check them out as well as Delta.
We're looking forward to it! |

I will most definitely be driving down for this one.
I haven't been to AC in ages (given a choice I'll take Vegas over AC anytime - plus I spent a LOT of time in AC way back when playing cat and mouse games with casino security and the BJ pits. Plus it's not as close as it used to be.
I think 90 minutes is a bit optimistic for Newark to AC. Figure more like 2 hours. (it's just about 120 miles give or take). Although it's pretty much highway all the way (Turnpike to Garden State Parkway down to AC Expressway exits) - but speed limits are lower than a lot of other places - and toll booths slow you down. But you can do 10 to 15 over the posted limits on the highways (don't crack 15 over though). |
