Name Steven Taylor
Age 24
Where are you from? Waukegan, IL (north of Chicago)
Are you married? Children? Single, no rugrats
What do you do for a living? Communications Officer in the US Air Force
How long have you been playing Internet poker? Playing online about one year, for real money about 3 months
What limits do you play? 1/2 right now, almost up to a 2/4 bankroll
What is your favorite site and why? Probably PokerStars. The interface is great, I've had nothing but excellent service, and there are so many games (ring, SNG, MTT) that its easy to mix it up when you get into a rut.
What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now? Winning my first SNG, with finishing 21/1700+ in an MTT a close second. The MTT was great because it was the first or second MTT I had played it, and it was a huge confidence boost to make it that far, from as short chipped as I had gotten. The SNG win was really great though, because they had eluded me for so long. It wasn't until after the first week in this year's poker league that the switch flipped on my NL strategy, and this win was the first time I really "got it" in an SNG.
What area of your game are you currently focusing on? I'm working on developing a better tournament game right now, both SNG and MTT. I've been studying a lot of books, and looking to hits the tables with that knowledge.
If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet, what would you do differently? A couple of things: 1) Try to better realize when I'm chasing cards on tilt. 2) Stop playing overcards so aggressively. 3) Not bleed away money in SNGs and MTTs I wasn't prepared for. A lot of my early profits at limit ring gamess were eaten away because I was slowly giving away my money in $1, $2, $3, and $5+$0.50 increments.
What's your favorite poker saying or phrase? "Don't tap the aquarium." I realize now that 8 months ago I was tapping the aquarium, but luckily, it was at the play money tables!!
Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)? Either Dan Negreanu or Howard Lederer. Negreanu - such a wide talent, and seems to be a genuinely upbeat and friendly guy. The kind of personality that you want at your table. Lederer - you have to respect his even keel and astute knowledge of the game
What are your other interests outside of poker? Odds are, if you mention something, I'm probably interested in it. If I had any kind of talent in 1/3 of what I wish I could spend my time doing, it would be too much.
Feel free to add anything else you would like to say. I wouldn't be where I am today in poker without this website, and the community of posters here. There is so much knowledge and experience in so many aspects of poker represented here, its almost scary...
