Name: Rob Barger
Age: 32
Where from?: Ocean Gate, NJ (moved to Boston, MA in 1990)
Married: Yes, 12 OCtober 2002
Children: Sort of...a dog (Stella) and a cat (Ed)
Occupation: Inventory Control Manager for Tweeter Home Entertainment Group (Canton, MA Distribution Center)
Playing Internet poker for: Eight months
Limits: Limit games up to $3/$6, NL games up to $50 max, 3 table MTT's, SnG's up to $50
Favorite Site: Party Poker
Why: High traffic, easy to find a good game
Biggest poker thrill: Flopping a full house (K's full of 6's) on the very first cash hand I ever played ($0.50/$1.00 limit at Party)
Currently focusing on: NL tournament strategy
If I could start over: I wouldn't have jumped to $3/$6 after only two months (and lost BIG)
Favorite poker saying: It's not exactly a poker saying, but it applies just the same. My grandfather used to say, "Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you." It's especially appropriate when someone spikes an ace on the river, cracking my pocket kings.
Favorite player: A tie between Sammy Farha and Daniel Negraneau. Sammy always looks like he knows exactly what's going on and Daniel is always having a great time.
Other interests outside of poker: There is life outside of poker?
Other stuff: Since first discovering poker (thanks to TV, like so many others) I have been in constant pursuit of educating myself in an effort to rise to the top. If there's a book about poker that I haven't read, it's probably on my waiting list.
My goal is to be at a table of world class players, know their style, their strengths and weaknesses, and use the skills and experience that I have gathered to show them that I am worthy to sit among them. It might take a while to get to that point, but I have the patience and determination to make it happen.
