Name
Lyle
Age 32 Where are you from? Living in San Jose, CA Are you married? Children? Married 3 1/2 years, two boys 2 1/2 yrs and 1 month What do you do for a living? Finance How long have you been playing Internet poker? About five months. What limits do you play? 1/2 right now, but I'm one good session from graduating to 2/4. What is your favorite site and why? I play both Party Poker and UltimateBet. They both have their strong and weak points, but I just can't turn down the great low limit games at Party. What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now? I don't have any impressive tournament wins yet. Hopefully I will some day, but for now I take pride in small victories like learning to laugh at bad beats and staying patient when the cards run cold. What area of your game are you currently focusing on? Many areas. I haven't considered myself a winning player at any level for more than a few months, so I have plenty to work on. Right now I'm just trying to maintain concentration and think through every decision on every hand. Playing my opponents' cards is an area I feel I'm improving on. If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet, what would you do differently? Well, I'm pretty happy with my progress and where I'm at right now, so I guess there is not a whole lot I would want to change. I started out losing my initial deposits at both Ultimatebet and Party Poker, but I think the struggles and hard work to beat the small limits was great experience. I feel that with a little work I'll be able to adapt to the game's changes as I move up through the limits. Hopefully I won't top out too soon What’s your favorite poker saying or phrase? If you push all your chips into the middle, you'd better be getting 'em back. - Layne Flack (I think) Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)? I guess collectively everybody who participates on this site. Between the book and the posts on this site, I've learned far more than from any other source. What are your other interests outside of poker? My other current big passion is flying small airplanes. I'm an FAA check ride away from having a private pilot's license. There's just nothing like flying over the Golden Gate Bridge on a clear day or over San Francisco at night. Other than flying I like golf, trading stocks and just hanging out with my family and friends Feel free to add anything else you would like to say. I feel very lucky to have found this site as early as I did. I have no doubt that the information exchanged here - as well as Matthew's book of course - significantly shortens the road to becoming a winning player.Look Lyle up in the Poker Forum! |
