John Price aka niin

Name: John Price

Age: 40

Where are you from? Aliso Viejo, CA, located in southern Orange County.  I'm originally from north Texas.

Are you married? Children? Not married, no kids.

What do you do for a living? I'm a computer web consultant, and also a partner in a startup game development company.

How long have you been playing Internet poker? I started playing online poker about 6 years ago, playing 7-card Stud.  I stopped playing for a while, then started playing Hold'em online again about 2 years ago, right around the time of the recent poker 'boom'.

What limits do you play? I only play NL tournaments, both MTT and SnG's, from $20-$50 buy-ins.  I've also been dabbling in Omaha and Omaha8 H/L at lower limits.

What is your favorite site and why? I started playing at PokerStars and have just kind of stayed there.  It's familiar, and I like their clean interface as well as the competition.  At this point in my poker career, I'm working on improving my game, so I find the competition at 'Stars beatable but not easily run over, which helps me find weaknesses in my own playing ability.

What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now? It's kind of a toss-up between when I won my seat into the 2004 WSOP, and actually playing in the 2004 WSOP.  I won my seat on PokerStars through one of their daily $33-rebuy direct entry satellites; the night/early morning that I finally won that tournament was one of the highest points in my short poker career.  Actually being at the main event was overwhelming.

What area of your game are you currently focusing on? Learning how to read hands and players better... I find myself second-best in tournaments far too often.  I used to give players too much credit for hands, and I've swung too far the other direction and no longer give them the credit they deserve for a hand.  For tournaments, I'm also working on my early/mid-game patience, since lately I find myself getting bored or antsy and start playing too many hands and hold on to hands for too long.

If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet, what would you do differently? I'd go back and start over with more discipline... I just kind of threw myself into the online poker arena without really reading much about it.  I knew the basics of Hold'em from my days playing in the Southern California B&M casinos, but I'd have studied more and taken a more disciplined approach than just kind of winging it for the first 6 months.

What’s your favorite poker saying or phrase? Hearing someone say 'All-in' when I'm holding the nuts :)  (doesn't happen far often enough!)

Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)? It's a toss-up between Daniel Negraneu and Gus Hansen.  Everyone thinks they're both somewhat reckless, but it's no fluke that they're consistently making final tables in many of the events that they play.  They have excellent post-flop skills and know when to apply pressure vs backing off a hand.

What are your other interests outside of poker? I love to program games, having done it for the past 10 years.  I also like riding my motorcycle on weekends.

Feel free to add anything else you would like to say. I wanted to thank Matt and everyone else on the ITH boards for making it one of the best poker sources on the 'net.
