Our own legal eagle joined the Forum in October and finds some time away from the court room to battle wits of a different kind...
Name Jeremy Age 30 Where are you from? Tiverton, RI (just north of Newport - former home of the America's Cup) Are you married? Children? Yes, 5 years with a 22 month old What do you do for a living? Corporate attorney How long have you been playing Internet poker? Since Oct. 21 What limits do you play? Currently $3/$6, but looking to move up to $5/$10 within a month. What is your favorite site and why? Empire/Party because the opponents there are such ... umm... well.... fish What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now? Its a dual achievement actually. My first big thrill was winning a $100+ pot. A bigger achievement recently is realizing that I don't need those big pots to be a winning player. I'll take those 5 BB pots and not waste money chasing. What area of your game are you currently focusing on? Playing the opponent, and not playing the cards. Using positional advantage and bets/raises to take down smallish pots that I have no business winning. If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet, what would you do differently? I don't think I would do anything differently. I started out with a couple hundred dollars playing as entertainment and it was fun. Of course, I did lose, but it got me hooked. I don't take it so seriously yet that I have read a dozen books (my time is better spent with the family) or mandate that I spend a certain number of hours playing or need to make so much to be happy. Its fun, and I've kept it that way. Winning is just an added bonus. What’s your favorite poker saying or phrase? "nice catch" or "you got lucky" or "you're an idiot". It usually shows that the person saying it is too emotional (tilting), a bad sport, or generally just a jerk (sanitized to use the word "jerk" because this is a family site... you can imagine much more appropriate terms.) Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)? My favorites are Phil Ivey and Howard Lederer. If they were ever to reproduce, it would be the perfect player.. in my opinion. Fearless (Ivey) and cerebral (Lederer) can be a deadly combination. In a close third, is Matthew, because of the great website! What are your other interests outside of poker? First and foremost is my son, then tennis, golf, video games - currently SOCOM II on PS2, Feel free to add anything else you would like to say. This is a great site for which I have to thank Matthew, and also a great community of people and players. I have learned an awful lot here, and hopefully, I'll be able to thank everyone for teaching me how to get the money I need to buy the boat I plan on having in a few years!Look Jeremy up in the Poker Forum! |
