Where are you from?
Indianapolis Indiana

Are you married?
Divorced

Nope

What do you do for a living?
I'm a computer geek(Networking consultant)

How long have you been playing Internet poker?
2 years or so on the web, about 10 B&M

What limits do you play?
Mostly 200 Buy in PL on Party or 3-6 6 player max on paradise Lots of NL
Sng's

What is your favorite site and why?
Favorite Poker site is Paradise. I love the 6 player tables. They are very
easy to beat. I like Party a lot too. With so many players, you can always
find a good game on there.

What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now?
I sat with Howard Lederer once. That was kinda neat but as far as winnings
go; I would say that winning Multi Player tournaments on Party. I have won 3
total. My biggest win was for almost 12k.

What area of your game are you currently focusing on?
I have been playing in a forced rotation game recently so I have been
working on my stud, Omaha, Razz and draw games.

If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet,
what would you do differently?
After winning big tournaments not blowing the money on high/higher limit
games. I have dumped a ton of money trying to jump up to fast. Just because
your bankroll says you can play 500PL does not mean you are ready for that
game.

What’s your favorite poker saying or phrase?
"I cant believe you called me down with that"
"Sorry John I cant remember"
and last but not least
"I got the nuts"

Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)?
I am a huge Pro fan. However If I had to pick a favorite of all time it
would be Stu Unger. Of the players out there today It would most likely be
Daniel Negreanu, Phil Helmuth(Yeah I said it), Doyle Brunson and Gus Hanson.

What are your other interests outside of poker?
Pro football(Huge colts fan), BMW auto's, Traveling to 3rd world
contries(Columbia, Thialand, Costa Rica, Cuba etc).

Feel free to add anything else you would like to say.
Mathew has done an excellent job. I hope to some day be able to compete at
his level.

Steve Hering aka SRH

Name: Steve Hering

Age: 52

Where are you from?

Brookfield, WI. A suburb of Milwaukee

Are you married?Children?

Never maried, no kids.

What do you do for a living?

International Finance. I am a managing partner in a firm that buys and sells distressed debt in Asia, primarily in South Korea and Thailand.

How long have you been playing Internet poker?

About two years.  I had been playing it with my buddies ever since I saw the first broadcast of the WSOP on “Wide World of Sports”.

What limits do you play?

Limit up to $3/$6…Tourneys up to $50 entry fee. I’d like to move up but can’t devote the time to the game that I’d like to.

What is your favorite site and why?

Poker Stars for Tourneys. They have the best of everything it seems. I wish the limit games were a little softer, though. Party for limit ring games.

What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now?

Winning a big multi-table NL tourney at Stars. Even at the lower levels, it’s tough. Also, spiking Royal Flush in a live tourney which I went on to win.

What area of your game are you currently focusing on?

All areas all the time. I don’t think you ever really master Holdem.

If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet, what would you do differently?

I would have read more, both books and the internet resources that were available at the time. I wish Matthew’s book had been available. I played so loosely pre-flop, I’m amazed I didn’t lose more than I did.

What’s your favorite poker saying or phrase?

From Mike Caro: “Your job at the poker table is not to win money. Your job at the poker table is to make good decisions.” That says it all about how to play good poker, at least to me.

Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)?

Howard Lederer. I like his demeanor at the table and his ability to switch gears.

What are your other interests outside of poker?

I play golf regularly and follow most sports. I’m an avid Wisconsin Badger fan and it goes without saying I follow the Packers closely.

Feel free to add anything else you would like to say.

I still cannot believe that Matthew also went to Thunderbird! That being said, I would like to congratulate my fellow alumnus for starting the best poker forum on the internet. All are welcomed and never ridiculed for their opinions. I learn more on this site than any other medium, thanks to the contributions of the ITH members.

My goal in poker is to have other people say, “I HATE it when this guy is at my table. I just HATE to play that guy”. With the information on the ITH board, I just may make it.

Mike Blackman, aka Icall
Name Mike Blackman

Age 24

Where are you from? NYC

Are you married? Children? Thankfully, no.

What do you do for a living? Cop.

How long have you been playing Internet poker? About 8 months.  I got into it when I saw Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 WSOP, I guess a lot of people did.

What limits do you play? Online I mostly play .5/1 but recently began dabbling in 2/4 (heard 1/2 was tough so I skipped it altogether).  When I play live in AC I usually play 3/6 or 4/8.

What is your favorite site and why? Party Poker is the only place I play because I heard it was the place with the worst/most players.  So far I can't complain.

What has been your biggest poker thrill or achievement up to now?  Well, if you look at the limits I play and combine that with the fact that I've never won a multi-table tourny it should make sense that I've never really had a "thrilling" win thus far in my poker infancy.

That said I'd have to say the moment it really hit me that poker truly wasn't "gambling", that it was a casino game that could actually be beaten in the long run, AND it was fun to play to boot, that was pretty thrilling.  It still is.

What area of your game are you currently focusing on?  I'm still just trying to get my ABC game as strong as it can be down in the lower limits before I start playing games where you actually have to think and the opponents are capable of making unpredictable and powerful plays.  Right now I'm happy where I am with poker.  Being able to soundly beat 3 tables of .5/1 is good enough for me for now.  I'm not trying to get rich playing poker, its just a hobby.

If you could go back in time and start all over again on the Internet, what would you do differently?  Get an affiliate, or at least know what an affiliate was and how they worked before I blindly put money onto a site.  That's it.

What’s your favorite poker saying or phrase?  "Poker is just another one of God's ways of taking money from stupid people and giving it to smart people." -Somebody that isn't me

Who is your favorite poker player (if you have one)?  Negreanu because he seems like a decent guy and because he's damn good.

Hellmuth because love him or hate him he is extremely entertaining to watch.  The more he cries the more I enjoy it, but I'm always sad to see him get knocked out.

Ivey, just look at how intense he is.  He seems way more focused every second of every hand than anyone else.  He looks like he's got a Deep Blue caliber mind, making millions of calculations every second just behind his eyes which manage to never give anything away.

What are your other interests outside of poker? My first love is Golf.  If I can get my handicap below my BB's per 100 hands I can die a happy man.  No doubt about that.
