Cake Poker Software

The software at Cake Poker is shared by all members of the Cake Gaming Network. Players are represented by avatars depicting various men and women and luckily can be switched off as it gets quite confusing where actual players are located. The table is a faded green with the Cake Poker logo on it, trimmed in a leather-looking edge. The chairs are arranged around the table on a tile floor with red-curtain background. Players can be represented by the avatars or simple placards at the player's choosing. Four color deck with 6 different card backs are available. Players have a note-taking function [with auto-wrap feature] with player "tagging" function built in and both a statistics screen and hand histories are available at a click of the mouse.

The cash game menu has Players Seeing the flop percentages as well as Average Pot and Hands Per Hour information allowing players the opportunity to play and filter tables by any of these methods. Their are many filters available so that players can pick NL, FL or even Omaha or 7-Stud by making a few easy clicks.

The tournament menu is as equally manipulated as the cash game menu and has filters for just about everything a tournament or SnG player could. Some of the bigger sites could learn a thing or two from the easy of use that the menus at Cake Poker provide.

Cake Poker has had problems in the past with frequent disconnects and severe software lag. Although their still is a tendency when you sign into your account for the software to freeze, it clears up in a matter of seconds and doesn't represent a problem overall. However, players who multi-table more than a half-dozen tables complain that the software does lag and that occasionally they get disconnected.

Cake Poker Traffic

Cake Poker shares it's traffic with other members of the Cake Gaming Network. The Cake Poker player base during weekdays is between 4-7,000 players. On weekends and in the evenings, player traffic can be anywhere from 5,000 players to 10,000 players. However, it can be sporadic at times.

Cake Poker Games

Cake Poker offers a variety of games for their players to choose from. Cash games, tournaments and SnGs are all available.

Cake Poker offers Texas Holdem in NL, PL and Fixed Limit varieties. Although they offer FL in stakes ranging from $0.02/$0.04 to $100/$200, most play centers around $1/$2 and below with seldom-filled $3/$6 and $5/$10 in peak times. Pot Limit is rarely trafficked, although, once again, in peak hours sometimes a game may get going. NL is offered in buy-in ranging from NL4 to NL100K. NL Fullring and NL400 6-Max are generally the highest buy-ins trafficked, but players can find NL1000 with 3 or 4 players on the table.

Omaha is offered in its Pot Limit and sees decent traffic in its PL4 through PL600 stakes. Although it is offered as high as PL100K, it basically only sees action at these lower stakes. Omaha Fixed Limit is offered, but scarcely sees any traffic. Omaha Hi/Lo is available in all forms, but only really trafficked in Pot Limit and No Limit. Pot Limit is offered from PL4 to PL5000 and NL is offered from NL4 to NL600. Most of the traffic in both games are relegated to the lower stakes.

There are tabs available for 7-Stud in High and Hi/Lo variants but there are no tables available at this time.

Tournaments are offered in NL, PL and FL formats in both Holdem and Omaha. They run satellites, freerolls, standard generic freezouts as well as guaranteed prizepool and WSOP super-satellites. Cake Poker has a weekly $12,000 Guarantee at 9:00PM EST.

Cake Poker offers SnGs, although most are of the single table variety. Cake Poker does offer $1, $6 and $10 30-player SnGs Their single table SnGs are offered in HU, 6-max and full 10-player formats. Players can find buy-ins as low as $1+$0.10 and as high as $5000+$100. There are turbos, satellites to events like the WSOP. These are available in NL and FL for Holdem, and PL for Omaha.

Game Variants

Cake offers two versions of WAR with Tactic WAR and Blitz WAR:

Earn Gold Chips

Turning FPPs to Gold
The question you are likely asking is, how do my FPPs become Gold Chips? The exchange process of FPPs to Gold Chips is automatic. FPPs accumulated turn in to Gold Chips at a rate of 100 FPP = 1 Gold Chip.

Frequent Player Points
When you are dealt cards in a real money ring game, you'll earn 1 FPP for every dollar raked. Cake Poker is accurate down to the penny when it comes to FPPs. For example, if your table was raked $1.25, you will receive 1.25 FPP.

In tournament play, you'll earn 7 FPPs per dollar in tournament fees paid. The tournament fee paid is indicated by the "(+ $)" when registering for a tournament.

Gold Cards

How do I earn a Gold Card?
Every time the table reaches a pre-determined rake amount a Gold Card is randomly issued to one player at that table. So, while Gold Cards are issued to players of all stakes and levels, higher limit games will be rewarded more frequently.

What is the value of a Gold Card?

By Card
In a regular deck of cards, each individual card holds a different value based on its number or face, and its suit; Gold Cards are no different. Use our Gold Card Odds chart to help determine value. The less the odds are of receiving a given card, the more valuable it is likely to be.

By Year
A sash is displayed on every Gold Card you receive. The older a card is, the more valuable it becomes. You'll notice that Gold Card Tournaments prize pools and value are better the higher the Gold Card buy-in is. For example, a 2008 King of Clubs Gold Card buy-in event will be much sweeter than a Two of Clubs one.
