Cake Poker Software

The software at Cake Poker is shared by all members of the Cake Gaming Network. Players are represented by avatars depicting various men and women and luckily can be switched off as it gets quite confusing where actual players are located. The table is a faded green with the Cake Poker logo on it, trimmed in a leather-looking edge. The chairs are arranged around the table on a tile floor with red-curtain background. Players can be represented by the avatars or simple placards at the player's choosing. Four color deck with 6 different card backs are available. Players have a note-taking function [with auto-wrap feature] with player "tagging" function built in and both a statistics screen and hand histories are available at a click of the mouse.

The cash game menu has Players Seeing the flop percentages as well as Average Pot and Hands Per Hour information allowing players the opportunity to play and filter tables by any of these methods. Their are many filters available so that players can pick NL, FL or even Omaha or 7-Stud by making a few easy clicks.

The tournament menu is as equally manipulated as the cash game menu and has filters for just about everything a tournament or SnG player could. Some of the bigger sites could learn a thing or two from the easy of use that the menus at Cake Poker provide.

Despite all of the nice features at Cake Poker, their software has serious problems. Frequent disconnects have been experienced by their players. The software is resource-intensive and on days where Cake Poker has 3,000 players or more, players can experience play-lag and frozen screens occuring during every hand.

Cake Poker Traffic

Cake Poker shares it's traffic with other members of the Cake Gaming Network. The traffic is quite low currently with 1500-2000 players online at peak hours. Traffic doesn't improve significantly on weekends. Players will find most traffic in their low buy-in MTTs as well as in NL cash games.

Cake Poker Games

Cake Poker offers a variety of games for their players to choose from. Cash games, tournaments and SnGs are all available.

Cake Poker offers Texas Holdem in NL, PL and Fixed Limit varieties. Although they offer FL in stakes ranging from $0.25/$0.50 to $50/$100, most play centers around $1/$2 and below with seldom-filled $3/$6 and $5/$10 in peak times. Pot Limit is rarely trafficked, although, once again, in peak hours sometimes a game may get going. NL is offered in buy-in ranging from NL20 to NL2000. NL Fullring and NL400 6-Max are generally the highest buy-ins trafficked, but players can find NL1000 with 3 or 4 players on the table.

Omaha is offered in its Pot Limit vareity and sees decent traffic in its $0.10/$0.20 through $1/$2 stakes. Although it is offered as high as $5/$10, it basically only sees action at these lower stakes. There are tabs available for Omaha Hi/Lo and 7-Stud in High and Hi/Lo variants but there are no tables available at this time.

Tournaments are offered in NL, PL and FL formats in both Holdem and Omaha. They run satellites, freerolls, standard generic freezouts as well as guaranteed prizepool and WSOP super-satellites. Cake Poker has a weekly $12,000 Guarantee at 9:00PM EST.

Although Cake Poekr offers SnGs, they are of the single table variety. They are offered in HU, 6-max and full 10-player formats. Players can find buy-ins as low as $5+$0.50 and as high as $200+$8. There are turbos, satellites to events like the WSOP. These are available in NL and FL for Holdem, and PL for Omaha.

Gold Cards

CakePoker has created 260,000 Gold Cards and tucked them safely away in their secure Gold Card Vault. Each Gold Card is stamped with a unique 'Series 3' seal, making these 260,000 cards the only 'Series 3' Gold Cards in existence.

You will win Gold Cards by playing at real money Ring Games. Each time you're dealt cards, one or both of the first 2 cards you are dealt may transform into a Gold Card at the end of the hand even if you folded your cards during the hand.

Gold Cards are chosen via Cake Poker's Random Number Generator (RNG) when a certain amount of rake is collected. This amount is reached much more quickly at a $2/4 FL table than a $.25/.50 FL table. All communications between the client program running on your computer and the Cake Poker server in Curacao are encrypted using the accepted industry standard 256-bit TwoFish encryption algorithm. The unique cards dealt to each player are delivered exclusively to that particular player's computer thus maintaining privacy and integrity of play. If Cake were to offer this bonus at 120 days, it might prove to be a better solution. Cake Poker offers members of ITH 33% rakeback on all tournament fees and cash game rake paid. Players get the 33% as a net rakeback from bonus deducted from their total rake paid minus any bonus paid out. In other words if you generate $100 in rake but clear $20 in bonus, Cake Poker will give you a 33% rakeback on $80 instead of $100.
