Review of Absolute Poker

Absolute Poker accepts players from the United States.

Absolute Poker had a security breach in September 2007 where an inside employee was able to use several "superuser" accounts that were given holecard information. At first Absolute Poker denied any wrong doing but later confirmed the rumors and an external audit was performed. Players who were cheated have been compensated and new security measures were put in place. Players should proceed with caution before playing at Absolute.

With reloads sometimes as often as 5 to 6 times a week, Absolute gives great value to their loyal customers in terms of almost always having bonuses available to pursue. Absolute Poker shares its tables with a few smaller pokersites. Absolute Poker is the home of a few well-known poker personalities and hosts a Weekly $150,000 Guaranteed Tournament. Opening their virtual doors in 2003, Absolute Poker is a mainstay of the online poker industry. Players at Absolute Poker may now transfer funds to and from Absolute Poker to Ultimate Bet. Players wishing to do so should highlight "Transfer to Ultimate Bet" in the "Preferred Cashout Method" of the Absolute Poker Withdrawal menus.

Absolute Poker Software
Absolute Poker's software is on a constant, evolutionary cycle, as Absolute listens to it's player's suggestions and constantly improve their software.

Absolute Poker comes with a default table skin, but players can download and install a wide variety of table skins, and are free to design their own. The default skin is a blue felt, wood-trimmed table, black leather chairs and a tan carpet. Players have a choice of four card-back colors to choose from as well as four-color deck options. Players can design their options to suit their needs. The on-table note function has an auto-wrap function, making notetaking easy. Players have access to a very good statistics screen, as well as both written and picture hand histories. The player avatars can be toggled off individually.

The main menus are broken down into the various forms of ring games and tournaments and are easily navigable. Ring games menus include "Players seeing the flop" percentages as well as well as average pot sizes and hands per hour, facilitating a player's ability to choose a table quickly. All of the main menu screens are fully filterable, allowing players to sort the menus by whichever criteria they need.
Absolute Poker Traffic
Absolute Poker accepts players from the United States. Absolute Poker is a medium-sized poker site whose traffic is growing as a result of the ban of American players at many poker sites. Traffic can be hit and miss, however, during the middle of the day in the United States.
Absolute Poker Games
Absolute has a wide variety of games and tournaments to choose from. However, the lack of traffic at their Omaha and 7-Stud venues relegates Absolute Poker to that of a holdem poker site.

Absolute Poker spreads fixed limit holdem in limits ranging from $0.02/$0.04 to $150/$300, with most traffic below the $5/$10 limit. Absolute also spreads No-limit and Pot-limit holdem at buy-ins ranging from $10 to $2500. There is short-handed traffic at most NL/PL levels, but fullring is once again relegated to the lower buy-ins. Omaha in it's High-only and Hi/Lo formats are spread at limits between $0.02/$0.04 and $75/$150, with most traffic at $3/$6 and below. PL and NL Omaha run from PL/NL10 tp PL/NL1000, with the bilk of the traffic at these games at the lower buy-ins. Although Absolute Poker offers 7-Card Stud in High-only, Hi/Lo and Razz variations, with limits ranging from $0.10/$0.25 to $25/$50, traffic is extremely sparse for this venue.

Absolute Poker allows 200 Big Blind Buy-ins for their NL and PL tables. Therefore, players buyin into a $0.05/$0.10 NL Holdem ring game can buy-in for as much as $20.00.

Absolute Poker offers a wide range of Multi-table tournaments [MTTs] and Sit and Gos [SnGs]. The SnGs run from two-player heads-up matches to 5 table games. Buy-ins run from $1000 heads-up matches to $0.50+$0.10 micro buy-ins. Their MTTs run between the $150+$12 $100K guaranteed weekly tournament to a variety of freerolls and Absolute Rewards Points freerolls. Players can usually find an MTT or SnG to suit their needs every hour of every day.

Sunday $200,000 Guarantee

Every Sunday, Absolute Poker hosts a $200,000 Guarantee tournament at 5:30PM EST. Direct buy-in for this weekly event is $200+$15, but players may qualify for as little at $1+$0.10 or 220 Credits. Players begin with 3,000 chips.

This tournament tends to grant an overlay each week, so players looking for a good value may like to try this tournament.

  • Last year's main event winner won more than $9 million.

Will you take it down in 2009?
It costs $10,000 to buy a seat to the World Series of Poker. At Absolute Poker, you can win one for just 10 cents.

The Referred Friend must be new to Absolute Poker.com and must not already have an Account at Absolute Poker.com under any other name or alias.

To receive the $50, the Referred Player must open an Account within 60 days of receiving the invitation email, and then make a minimum deposit of $50 or more at any time.

    Bad Beat Jackpot

Look for Absolute Poker's new ‘Bad Beat Jackpot’ tables and watch our jackpot grow. They’ll collect $0.50 from the pot of each raked hand. The poker jackpot will keep growing until someone hits an unbelievable bad beat.

As soon as someone hits a qualifying bad beat, 70% of the jackpot will be shared between everyone at the online poker table where the bad beat went down. 20% will go towards the next jackpot and 10% will go to the house.

They’ll take the new amount and divide it amongst the players seated at the Bad Beat Jackpot table:
  • The loser of the hand – ie. the bad beat victim - will take 50% of the prize

  • The winner of the hand will take 25% of the prize

  • The rest of the players seated at the table will share the remaining 25%

  • Qualifying Terms & Conditions

  • Not all tables qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot. Look for Absolute Poker's real money Texas Hold’em tables to play for the jackpot. Bad Beat Jackpot tables will be noted with the word “jackpot” written in brackets after the table name and will be categorized in red text in the lobby.

  • In order to qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot, four or more players must be dealt in the hand and rake must be collected.

  • The losing hand must contain four eights (8888) or better.

  • Players sitting out at the Bad Beat Jackpot table are not eligible for the jackpot.

  • Both hole cards must be included in the winning and losing hand.

  • The hand must go to a showdown in order to qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot.
  • Absolute Poker Stability
Absolute Poker has been in business since 2003. With a large player base and licensed in Canada, Absolute Poker strives to make their player's online experience both safe and trustworthy. All player's online monies are held in segregated accounts and are managed by the Royal Bank of Scotland.
    Absolute Poker Security
Absolute Poker had a security breach in September 2007 where an inside employee was able to use several "superuser" accounts that were given holecard information. At first Absolute Poker denied any wrong doing but later confirmed the rumors and an external audit was performed. Players who were cheated have been compensated and new security measures were put in place. Players should proceed with caution before playing at Absolute.
    Absolute Poker Customer Service
Absolute Poker has a decent Customer Service department. Response times are tied into their VIP Program, and speed of reply increases the higher the level VIP a player attains. Absolute Poker's Customer Service is email only, but is broken down into a number of departments like cashiering or tournament to make sure that specific issues are addressed more promptly and by the department that handles those specific concerns. Absolute Poker's Customer Service representatives are, therefore, usually very knowledgeable in the specifics of your queries. Initial cashout speeds are slow, but both NETeller and FirePay cashout speeds improve the more Absolute Poker's cashiering services become acquainted with each specific player.
    Absolute Poker Poker Tracker Compatibility
Absolute Poker is Poker Tracker compatible. Poker Tracker supports both ring and tournament hand histories in all facets of online play including Holdem, Omaha, Stud and Razz.
Ability to Multitable at Absolute Poker
At Absolute poker, players are able to play on 6 tables simultaneously.
Multiple Absolute Poker Accounts per Household
If more than one person per household wants to play, you will need to contact management for assistance to set up the accounts. Two people can play at the same time from the same household, but not at the same table. This is one way Absolute Poker ensures that collusion cannot occur.
    Absolute Poker Tournaments with Overlays
A tournament overlay is the result of guaranteed prize money that is not offset by the participant's buy-ins. As such, all freerolls always offer an overlay.

Although Absolute Poker is only a medium-size site, there is enough tournament traffic that very few tournaments will provide an overlay. The best chance for an overlay at Absolute Poker are those tournaments that occur in the early morning hours in the United States.
